Oracle Hyperion Reporting – XBRL Manager
Financial data travels among disparate systems, and it moves from one consumer to the next. It is typically generated within a transaction-based system, flows into a business information system, and is subsequently consumed in the form of financial reporting to key stakeholders. Because financial data is always on the move, tracking it and ensuring its integrity and quality in order to meet government compliance regulations can be a daunting task.
A critical tool for controlling financial data is Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), a freely available electronic language for financial reporting that is based on Extensible Markup Language (XML). XBRL applies identifying tags to items of data, allowing them to be processed and analysed. The use of XBRL tags provides financial communities with a standards based method to prepare, publish, reliably extract, and automatically exchange financial statements of publicly held companies. XBRL does not establish new accounting standards. Instead, it enhances the usability of existing standards.
